I've used shareaza from sourceforge.net to download movies and such off the internet, and although it was a bit difficult at first I found it to be quite useful with Jaws. Now however Jaws has for some reason stopped working wit Shareaza, and I'm wondering what others use to download movies mp3's and the like? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Yeah, agree about bearshare. I've used several such clients and that one is by far my favorite. Whatever you do, don't download Kaza. It doesn't work with Jaws and completely screwed up my computer.

I am new to downloading stuff, but it seemed to me that shareaza would work better for finding stuff. It said that it used Edonkey, Gnutella 1&2, and bittorrent (which I like because I can search google etc for the torrent files). It seems that all the other clients only use one network which, if I can download what I want, is fine with me. I'm also worried about spyware, as I hear that a lot of times the clients themselves put spyware on the computer rather than the files downloaded? Like I said, I'm new at this... PS: Has anyone used IRC for downloading stuff with much success; if so, how easily could it be donw by a blind person? Thanks for the posts.

Meh it seems that me and freequency are the only 2 people that understand that there is spyware in bareshare.
The amount of people that i've told this to that just download it anyway is stupid.
I use bitpump from anerlogx for my torrents and i used to use emule, which is good for blind stuff.
Freequency, whats the difference between emule and emule+? Does it give faster transfer speeds? Does it mean that i won't get fuck lodes of .info's and worms with everything that i download? Thanks,
BEN.

i'm not completely sure, but here's what the website says.

eMule Plus is a new generation eMule compatible client created to improve the original GUI and to bring you the best experience ever. Give it a try and
feel the boogie ;) eMule Plus doesn't contain any spyware, adware or the like. It's open source and free for life.

You can find scripts at gutterstar.net. I'm not sure if they support the latest version, so if you need something sent to you, let me know.

I use gnucleus, but it can be a bit of a dummy to work.
found at gnucleus.com
I can send you an ini file that will help you connect but then you will have to configure a lot of stuff

I like bearshare, and emule+. I haven't tried any others, except for azuras for my torrents, which I think is good to.
